Milk and Honey Soap

24 oz. olive oil
24 oz. coconut oil
24 oz. tallow
14 oz. Crisco®
2 oz. beeswax
12 oz. pure lye*
26 oz. spring water
6 oz. whole milk or buttermilk
3 oz. honey
4 oz fragrance or essential oil of your choice

Combine the milk and honey and gently warm. Melt beeswax and add to melted oils. Stir until completely blended. In a well ventilated area, slowly add the lye to the water, stirring gently until completely dissolved. When the lye water solution and fat mixture are both at 98 degrees, slowly pour lye water into fats, stirring constantly. Continue to stir until mixture thickens to the consistency of thick honey. This may take about an hour. As soap thickens, slowly add the milk and honey mixture. Stir in essential oils right before pouring into the mold. This soap may take longer to harden before cutting into bars and curing for four weeks. Yields about 24 bath size bars.
